Practical workplace workshop
Recognising burnout early and building sustainable ways to restore energy and wellbeing
Burnout doesn’t happen overnight. It builds slowly, often going unnoticed until it starts to impact how we think, feel, and function.
This workshop helps participants understand what burnout is, how it develops, and what can be done to prevent and respond to it, at both an individual and workplace level.
Grounded in wellbeing science and real-world application, the session connects burnout to energy, stress, and everyday work patterns.
Key learning outcomes
Participants will:
- Understand what burnout is and how it develops over time
- Recognise early signs and symptoms of burnout
- Differentiate burnout from stress, mental illness, and languishing
- Identify key workplace and individual drivers of burnout
- Understand the role of energy in burnout and recovery
- Learn practical strategies to reduce risk and support recovery
The pattern we see
Burnout rarely comes from one single factor.
It often builds when multiple pressures combine, such as:
- Unmanageable or sustained workloads
- Low autonomy or lack of control
- Feeling under-recognised or unrewarded
- Limited support or connection at work
- Perceived unfairness
- Misalignment between values and work
When these factors persist without recovery, energy becomes depleted, and burnout risk increases.
