A message from Steve Wesselingh, SAHMRI Executive Director

Steve Wesselingh

SAHMRI Executive Director

On behalf of the SAHMRI Board and Executive I am delighted to announce the establishment of Be Well Co, a company that leverages the outstanding research and intellectual property developed by SAHMRI’s Wellbeing and Resilience Centre.

This initiative, championed by Joep van Agteren and Monique Newberry, perfectly aligns two of SAHMRI’s core missions – to conduct research that translates to better health outcomes with global impact; and commercialisation to enable ongoing, sustainable investment into our research programs. Be Well Co’s vision is a society where all people are equipped with evidence-based skills to build their mental health and grow through life’s challenges. Be Well Co’s offerings are targeted at organisations and centre around a core set of foundational principles: evidence-based mental wellbeing solutions focused on building skills for the whole person, relevant to life at work as well as beyond the workplace. Be Well Co will build on more than six years of work within the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre which has already seen more than 12,000 people engage with the Centre’s measurement platform and more than 6,000 people who have undertaken wellbeing and resilience training.

The value of the skills Be Well Co promotes has never been more apparent than right now as we continue to deal with the fallout of a global pandemic that has impacted almost every aspect of our lives.

Both Monique and Joep are long-standing leaders in the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre who, together with their passionate team, will deliver on the mission of Be Well Co.

The team’s commitment to deliver to their clients truly evidenced-based solutions underpinned by its leading research remains unchanged. Research will continue to be conducted as part of SAHMRI’s mental health and wellbeing program, boosted by a recent research partnership with Flinders University, with the evidence gathered continuing to be translated into the service offerings under Be Well Co.

Please join me in congratulating Joep, Monique and their team on driving Be Well Co to this significant stage and wishing them every success in their mission to improve wellbeing throughout South Australia and beyond.
